Our Mission
To be the #1 new-media brand for smart, creative and stylish women everywhere.
That's a pretty solid goal right there. A little while ago I stumbled onto this adorable blog website called Refinery29. Back in the day (about half a year ago...) when I was collecting new blogs and news websites regarding life and style, I just blindly saved it in my favorites list because I thought it looked kind of cute. Lately, I have been paying a lot more attention to the websites I saved up back then and read the newest articles, if interesting, every morning or afternoon. I have now found out that I cannot live without this website anymore. It has basically everything I like: witty articles, fashion and style reports, DIYs, (for me) relevant information and tips/tricks and advice that I can actually use in my life.
This is the story behind this amazing website as quoted from their 'about us' page:
"In 2005, four friends founded a company called Refinery29 with a mission to help people discover and refine their personal style. Starting with just a $5,000 investment and based out of a 750 square foot apartment, we published only one story a week. And now, nine years later, we've grown to over 150 employees and publish over 1,800 stories a month, which is 36 issues of an average fashion magazine. As time went on, we grew and grew — and were even named the fastest growing media company in the US.
Last year, people around the world spent more than 3.6MM hours on the site, which is more than 150,000 days or 411 years. And, what were people reading in all that time? Everything. Stories ranging from runway trends and beauty DIYs to dating disaster stories and articles featuring the latest world news — all with our signature Refinery29 wink, of course. Our content is global and local, with features, contributors, and ideas spanning the world. And with it, we strive to make Refinery29 the number-one destination for stylish, intelligent women who crave thought-provoking conversation around limitless ideas."
With new articles every day, there's enough to read. And when I see something I like and might need on the go, I just evernote that shit.
More than ever before in history, being up to date on the newest of the newest has become incredibly important. Because information travels so fast, you are expected to have heard everything about anything that happened in the last 48 hours. The more you know, the more you are. And this does not only include salesmen with the newest innovative products or the wolves of Wall Street, but also your average high school student or sales employee over at the supermarket. Knowing about what's going on can make you become relevant in a conversation, especially when you know a little more or a little different. I feel like Refinery29 is able to provide me with this privilege, as their articles are rather fresh in an unique way. When I see the titles, I often think: wow, I want to know about that!
Let me give you some examples that made me say Hey!
